Every decade of life demands a different version of you. There’s a significant shift in your body in your late 40s and 50s that can make it feel like being the best version of you is impossible, but I’ll continue to tell you that nothing is impossible.
You have had a massive shift in your body in the past few years. It feels like you’re going through puberty again, but it’s menopause. These symptoms sometimes feel intense because your hormones are either too low or out of control, and you don’t feel like yourself. On the outside, your body is holding on to weight in your stomach, and you’re not sleeping well. Internally, you’re experiencing digestive issues. You’re not as toned as you used to be; you’ve started worrying about bone loss. It’s frustrating, but with the proper support, you can kick menopause in the butt and get back to feeling like you!
Cardio is not king. While walking, riding a bike, and the elliptical are all great additions to a healthy exercise regime and great for stress relief, they will not provide the movement your body needs to build and retain muscle. In your 50s, you will lose muscle mass, which aids in weight loss, so begin a strength-building workout. You’ll start seeing and feeling the benefit if you are consistent and intentional.
We know that menopause can create a lot of barriers to not just losing weight but with feeling confident, energetic, productive, and sexy. Many women accept these feelings as just a part of life, but you were created to thrive. With the proper support and a concerted effort, you can start to feel encouraged and like you are moving in the right direction.
